Featured Family Events in February
February 2019

Every season in West Michigan has it's unique, fun things to do for kids of all ages- from babies up to the "young at heart". Indoors or outdoors, no matter the time of year, there's always something great going on along the lakeshore for families to experience together!
In addition to the following list, check out the events happening throughout the month at Sandcastles Children's Museum and the Ludington and Scottville branches of the Mason County District Libraries!
Here's a list of family friendly events happening along the lakeshore in February:
Every Wednesday in February, 9:30-11am
Joyful Noise Playgroup at Ludington Area Catholic School- 700 E. Bryant Rd. Free and open to all families with children age newborn up to preschool. For more information, call (231) 843-3188.
Every Thursday from February 21st-March 14th, 10am
Free Parent Information Opportunities at the Ludington Library- 217 E. Ludington Ave. Classes are held in conjunction with Preschool Storytime but the information can be applied to families with children older than preschool age as well. Child care is provided. Upcoming topics: February 21st- “How Children Develop”, February 28th- “Essential Skills for Learning and Life”, March 7th- “Positive Discipline”, And March 14th- “ABCs of Early Literacy.” Parents and caregivers are welcome to attend any or all of the classes.
Wednesday, February 20th, 5-7pm
Parent Coalition Night at the Mason County Central Upper Elementary School- 505 W. Maple Ave. in Scottville. Monique Selimos will discuss the importance of Developmental Screening, how it works, and it's role in the community. Dinner will be provided from 5-5:30pm and childcare will be provided. RSVP required.
Saturday, February 23rd, 7:30am-2pm
Portage Lake Fun Fish in Onekama. Entry fee is $5 and pre-registration is at Lakeside Treats and Baits. Day-of registration will be at the boat launch from 7-8am. Measuring will take place at Papa J's beginning at 1pm. Selected fish categories are Northern Pike, Perch, Bluegill/Sunfish, and Whitefish/Cisco. For more information, call Phil at (231) 510-1424.
Monday, February 25th, 5:30-8:30pm
Family Fun Night at the West Shore Community College Rec Center- 3000 N. Stiles Rd. in Scottville. There will be carnival games, prizes, face painting, giant inflatables, pizza and refreshments, and more. The swimming pool will also be open for public use. The event is free and open to the public, and sponsored by the West Shore Community College Student Senate.
Sunday, February 24th, 1pm
Potluck & Singalong at the Brown Township Hall- 8233 Coates Highway in Brethren. A midwinter gathering of friends sponsored by the Spirit of the Woods Music Association. Attendees should bring a dish to pass and an instrument.
Thursday, February 28th, 5-7pm
Soup Supper to benefit HELP Ministries at the United Methodist Church- 5810 Bryant Rd. in Ludington. Cost is by donation and includes soup, bread and dessert. A silent auction will also be held.
